The Guardian Man signals to outsiders to stop and check-in, ask permission, state your name and intention and wait. This piece has also been interpreted as a man who is guarding his home, signalling with hands in the air and saying, "stop don't shoot." This piece is open to your interpretation. What do his figure and body language mean to you, does he invoke emotion or thoughts?
This is a completely original design. The artist likes to show skeletal forms and this can be seen in some previous artworks throughout the years. The design is plasma cut by the artist into a standard mild steel sheet. These metal cut-out sculptures make really wonderful outdoor hangings. They develop a natural coat of rust. To care for this piece, be mindful that it rusts. If you would like to preserve it in a current state put a clear coat of rustoleum on it and check in on it on a yearly basis. it can also have rust removed to have a more metallic look and be kept indoors or in a sheltered area.
